Turtles are able to climb however their ability to do so is somewhat limited. They are able to climb onto objects such as rocks, and logs when they want to get out of water. However you will probably not find a turtle climbing up a fence or the side of a tree, although it has been rumored that certain species have in fact mastered fences. Perhaps the only way to know for sure whether they can climb fences or not is to be fortunate enough to witness such an event taking place. Until then, the world may never know.
