It may be true that cats are in fact faster than dogs. In fact, cheetahs are said to be the fastest land mammal, able to reach speeds up to 100 km per hour (about 70 miles per hour.) The domestic cat has been said to be able to sprint at an average speed of about 31 miles per hour, while the domestic dog has been said to sprint at an average speed of about 25 miles per hour. I guess the only real way to find out for sure who runs faster is to make a cat and dog race each other and see who the winner is.

Hi I think that cats are faster than dogs because my friend has a dog and I was able to catch up with it in their backyard but when I let my cat out into my backyard he was impossible to catch.

Cats are born hungers. Cats will hunt on other living animals, , mouses, birds, etc. Of course they are not as fast as their older brothers, tigers and lions, they are faster than dogs. Dogs are good guards, but they are not hunters. Cats are perfect, fast, silent hunters.
