Very few bats drink blood. However, vampire bats, found in Central America, South America, and Mexico do in fact feed on blood. However, It is not like the vampire bats in the movies that suck the blood of humans so no need to worry. These winged creatures only feed on the blood of warm blooded animals such as horses, cattle, and birds.
Vampire bats drink blood by making a small cut in an animal’s skin while it is sleeping. After making this cut, they lap up the blood from the wound. Vampire bats require about 2 teaspoons of blood per day to survive.
