There are many different kinds of owls which are native to Australia, including the Black or Dusky Barn Owl. This particular owl is medium to large in size and has very dark eyes with fine white spots all over its body. This owl is strictly nocturnal, hiding away during the daytime in tree crevices as well as hollow trunks and even caves.
Although these owls are certainly beautiful to look at, they are very rarely seen or even heard. Then there is also the sooty black owl which is also nocturnal, coming out at night to hunt and burrowing into trees during the day. It can be found in clearings and inside forests.
