Both owls and hawks are commonly referred to as birds of prey and are nocturnal hunters. Birds of prey or raptors as they are commonly referred to also include kites, vultures, eagles, falcons, and ospreys. Although the eating habits and prey of these animals varies greatly depending on the bird, most all of them have very keen eyesight and hunt mostly at night.
There are certainly a lot of similarities between hawks and owls and many people who believe they are in some way related to each other due to the overwhelming number of similar physical characteristics and hunting habits. Hawks and owls are at the very top of the food chain when it comes to these birds and have amazing hunting skills.
